Back on Air

On September 16th, the KZUU DJs returned on air after several weeks of the automation system having complete control of the airwaves due to technical difficulties. Northwest Public Broadcasting broadcast engineers Jim Boothby and Thomas Saylor assisted KZUU general manager Dayton Zimlinghaus and program director Tavin Hartsell in restoring the aux cable that allows DJs to play their music directly on the radio.

“I enjoy jumping in on these projects… but Jim Boothby is really the hero of the day. You can really throw anything at him, and he’s got it,” said Thomas Saylor.

For this fall semester, 35 radio shows are playing a variety of music all week long. On Monday, the KZUU radio show Cooking That Up Right Now had their first set.

“Our first set was lowkey kinda nerve-racking, but once we got going, it was chill… I can’t wait for all the memories we are going to make this year,” said DJ Kimi Burkle.

KZUU is trying to ramp up production in all fields. The social media team is working hard to produce new content. A writing team was formed to produce more consistent written content. Finally, the executive staff is working on producing various fun events.

So stay tuned
