Danny Brown – uknowhatimsayin¿

In the midst of endlessly memorable punchlines and loud humor delivered in a signature flow that’s reminiscent to the spats of a firecracker; a fine line of eccentricity (without trying too hard) was mastered in it’s seamless cohesion to the grooviest production, via Q-tip, that Danny Brown has had to date. Uknowhatimsayin¿ is Browns first album release since the 2016 success of Atrocity Exhibition and- It does anything but disappoint.

Whilst managing to not stray very far from his coined wit or experimental roots ( even just a little! ) , this is undoubtedly the Detroit grown rappers most refined release yet. In previous discography, Brown’s vocal style can be known to pierce through center stage in a way that demands primary attention which, is strikingly different from uknowhatimsayin¿- Where the experimental funk-esque production inextricably meshes into Brown’s vocals and lyrics to offer a newfound congruity that begs this album to played from start to finish. Stylistic changes and all, Brown continues to be one of the most dimensionally unparalleled rappers on the scene for the personality that his music radiates. Uknowhatimsayin¿ bleeds like a sentiment to the multitudes of Brown’s identity, which (for me) is what makes this album one of 2019’s biggest hard-hitters to date.
