There is little better than finding a spot where you can belt out some songs. Whether that be in the shower, car, or in a busy bar on a weekday, there is always a spot for you to sing one of your favorite songs, completely forgetting how much you might be embarrassing yourself in the meantime. This week, we highlight our go to karaoke songs.
ABEL: SCARY MONSTERS AND NICE SPRITES BY SKRILLEX
YES OH MY GOD
GARY: SOUL TO BLESSED SOUL BY SWAMP DOGG
Crowd pleaser, epic ballad, love song, vocal masterpiece, need I say more…
ASHLYN: FELL ON BLACK DAYS BY SOUNDGARDEN
WHATSOEVER I’VE FEARED HAS COME TO LIFE
AND WHATSOEVER I’VE FOUGHT OFF, BECAME MY LIFE
In a room full of 90s grunge fans, people who are into dad rock, or just a random person who has never heard this song before (hard to believe), everybody is jamming out to this one.
CHLOE: THE JOKER BY STEVE MILLER BAND
I think this song as a go-to karaoke song speaks for itself. It’s easy to sing along to and I feel like it’s a crowd favorite, especially in a karaoke bar full of dad-rock lovers. I don’t need the lyrics for it and it genuinely just goes so hard.
ISAK: CARELESS WHISPER BY GEORGE MICHAEL
It’s a great song that a lot of people know and love. Karaoke songs are meant to have fun with and it’s more fun when people join in. Careless Whisper is a song that is instantly recognizable and everyone can have a good time while I butcher the vocals.
GAVIN: UNDER PRESSURE BY QUEEN AND DAVID BOWIE
When I was in choir in high school, we did this song so many times so I know every beat and second of this song and can kill it in karaoke.
DANIEL: 1985 BY BOWLING FOR SOUP
Bowling For Soup’s 1985 is just such a fun song to sing. It’s got great lyrics, a fun tune, and sounds good being sung by just about anybody. Go sing it right now. Do it. Now.
EVANNE: HEY BABY BY PITBULL
If there are a million Pitbull fans, I am one. If there are 1000 Pitbull fans, I am one. If there are 100 pitbull fans, I am one. If there are 10 Pitbull fans, I am one. If there are 5 Pitbull fans, I am one. If there is one Pitbull fan, it’s me. If there are 0 Pitbull fans, I’m dead.
ZEKE: SUGAR BY MAROON 5
I’ll admit I’m a sucker for catchy, bubblegum pop. Though most people will agree Maroon 5 largely fell off after their first album Songs About Jane, I think Sugar is a great example of their strengths in simple songwriting. Its catchy hook, clear lyrics, and and frequent radio play make it a perfect candidate for karaoke night. 🤠
JUSTIN: TAKE ME OUT BY FRANZ FERDINAND
This song is the perfect amalgamation of early 2000s alternative music. It’s a throwback that is popular enough that people might sing along but will still be a welcome surprise. Plus, you’ll get to show off some of that “vocal range” you’ve been bragging to your friends about.
